Position Overview:

We are seeking support for our client team in the quantum technology development team. If you are passionate about shaping the future of European secure communication infrastructure and have expertise in the theoretical description of quantum systems, this position could be an excellent fit for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct security analysis with a focus on implementation security for QKD protocols and quantum-based random number generation (QRNG), contributing to proposals, projects, and technology development programs related to secure and quantum communication.
  • Develop concepts to bridge the gap between theoretical ideas and their experimental implementation using current optical and photonic technologies.
  • Perform scientific assessments of new protocols and their applications in collaboration with academic partners.
  • Conduct vulnerability analyses and threat/risk assessments.
  • Support security validation and system certification efforts.
  • Evaluate trade-offs between technical and programmatic solutions.
  • Derive security system requirements specifications and system architectures, and develop comprehensive security concepts.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in theoretical physics, mathematics, theoretical computer science, quantum optics, or a related field with strong expertise in quantum mechanical modeling of systems.
  • Experience in developing security proofs for QKD protocols or QRNGs, particularly in the context of quantum adversaries.
  • Experience with performance simulations of QKD systems, including secret key rate estimations.
  • Motivation to integrate quantum security analysis with classical cryptographic systems, particularly through security risk analysis using EBIOS or ISO methods.
  • Enthusiasm for participating in space-based missions aimed at securing future European data communications.
  • Passion for systematic approaches to proving the security properties of systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with a self-managed and proactive working style.
