Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a candidate to lead the generation and review of robotics system
requirements and verification strategies for on-orbit servicing missions at spacecraft,
subsystem, and unit levels. The role involves designing innovative hardware, ensuring
system compatibility, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve complex
problems. This position will play a critical part in all stages of spacecraft design,
development, and launch phases, contributing to groundbreaking advancements in
space robotics.

Key Responsibilities:

● Generate and review robotics system requirements and verification strategies.
● Lead co-engineering sessions with robotics suppliers to assess mission suitability.
● Design innovative hardware, unit modules, and ground support equipment to meet mission goals and collaborate with subject matter experts in mechanical, thermal, software, and electrical engineering.
● Optimize designs for manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing (AIV).
● Define and execute hardware-related activities throughout design, AIV, and launch phases.
● Produce and maintain detailed documentation, including specifications, ICDs, procedures, and reports.
● Contribute to project lifecycle reviews such as PDR and CDR.
● Support procurement and supplier engagement for manufacturing.
● Participate in global projects and activities.

Qualifications:

● Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in robotics, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or related fields.
● 5–10+ years of experience in robotics, with expertise in safety-critical mechanism design and operations.
● Proficiency in robotics analysis, design/procurement, and testing, ideally for spacecraft and deep understanding of robotics design trade-offs and state-of-the-art robotics technologies.
● Familiarity with spacecraft mission lifecycles and managing requirements.
● Proven ability to design innovative hardware and solve complex challenges on tight schedules.

Desirable Skills:

● Experience with robotics design challenges in the space sector.
● Knowledge of manipulator technologies and magnetic properties in capture mechanisms.
● Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, NX) and multi-body dynamics modeling and ability to automate processes using VBA or Python.
● Broad knowledge of debris removal, end-of-life, and in-orbit servicing.
● Leadership and adaptability in dynamic environments.
