Position Overview:

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to addressing the critical issue of orbital debris and advance humanity’s continued use of space. Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Product Strategy, you will play a key role in developing bids and securing funding for our projects. This position is ideal for someone with experience in bid management within the spacecraft sector or complex engineering services who is looking to grow their responsibilities in bid delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate entire bids or specific components of bids from initial engagement through to submission, including leading or supporting negotiations as needed.
  • Ensure timely delivery of bid volumes, collaborating with relevant internal teams such as projects, engineering, procurement, finance, and business analysis.
  • Conduct bid reviews and win-theme analyses, adhering to bid PA/QA philosophies and performing bid/no bid reviews.
  • Control bid finances, working with the finance team and external partners on multi-partner/consortium bids.
  • Support business analysis to enhance customer and competitor analysis.
  • Develop and maintain commercial bid documentation and artefacts.
  • Assist the sales team with pipeline development, capture planning, and proposal production for commercial opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of bid management experience in the space industry, with full lifecycle exposure preferred.
  • Proficient in managing various bid sizes and compiling key sections (technical, commercial, financial, etc.).
  • Strong sales and marketing skills to effectively convey business selling points.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Deep understanding of the space industry, space environment, and space debris issues.
  • Postgraduate degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in technical domains such as in-orbit servicing, active debris removal, or space situational awareness.
  • Knowledge of the UK Space Agency (UKSA) or European Space Agency (ESA) ecosystem and experience with their calls.
  • Previous experience in satellite business development or sales is a plus.
