Position Overview:

Our client seeks a Data Acquisition Engineer to support rocket engine test and 
propulsion system campaigns at a leading space engineering facility. This hands-on role 
focuses on maintaining and enhancing National Instruments-based data acquisition and 
control systems, as well as supporting electronics design and manufacturing. 
You will serve as the go-to engineer for system troubleshooting, design custom 
electronics using KiCAD, collaborate with suppliers, and work closely with technicians to 
produce and test PCBs, harnesses, and module assemblies. The role also involves 
ensuring test software remains updated and fully functional. 

Key Responsibilities: 

● Support rocket engine and propulsion system test campaigns, including clean room operations. 
● Design digital and analogue circuits and create PCB layouts using KiCAD. 
● Serve as the point of contact for external providers of custom electronic desigsolutions, including creating specifications and managing development. 
● Collaborate with electronics technicians to manufacture and assemble prototype and production circuit boards, interconnecting harnesses, and full module enclosures (e.g. 19” rack boxes) for ground testing and flight systems. 
● Conduct end-to-end testing of all manufactured components, from basic continuity checks to advanced signal response testing of data acquisition systems. 
● Maintain and update software for data acquisition and control, including both in-house and externally developed code. 
● Maintain and upgrade National Instruments-based data acquisition and control systems across multiple firing sites and clean room facilities. 
● Act as the first point of contact for debugging and investigating anomalies in data acquisition and control systems. 


Qualifications: 

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, with 5+ years of relevant industry experience. 
● Strong theoretical foundation and practical experience in analogue/digital electronics, circuit design, and system diagnostics. 
● Proficient in data acquisition principles, sensor types (e.g., pressure, flow, temperature), and signal conditioning. 
● Skilled in soldering (including surface-mount), crimping, and interpreting electronic schematics. 
● Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and C-series modules; knowledge of serial communication protocols (RS485/422/232, MODBUS). 
● Proficient with EDA tools (preferably KiCAD) and programming languages such as LabVIEW, C++, VBA, and Python. 
● Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills with a high attention to detail and quality. 
● Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in collaborative technical teams.
