Position Overview:

Our client seeks a dedicated Project Manager to oversee the delivery of major mission projects, ensuring adherence to financial and programmatic constraints. This role involves managing the complete project lifecycle from contract initiation through development, delivery, and operational service, while effectively leading a core project team and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects or specific aspects from contract commencement through development, delivery of space and ground segments, launch preparation, in-orbit commissioning, and service delivery.
  • Lead day-to-day activities of the project core team, motivating and driving engineering delivery in alignment with the baseline plan.
  • Break down projects into work packages, negotiating agreements with engineering team leaders for resource allocation.
  • Maintain communication with customers and internal stakeholders, including Engineering Functional Managers, Project Accounting, and SSTL’s Leadership Team.
  • Organize and manage major project reviews, setting clear objectives, inputs, outputs, and success criteria to secure customer payment milestones.
  • Identify and manage key project risks, ensuring measurable mitigation actions are in place and integrated into the project work package structure.
  • Monitor project finances, ensuring the budget aligns with risk exposure and profit targets while preparing cost packs for business development.
  • Oversee contract implementation and ensure compliance with established procedures and processes.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or technical discipline is preferred.
  • Proven project management experience in successfully delivering projects within the satellite, engineering, or aerospace industries, with familiarity in interfacing with customers and contract management..
  • Ability to work closely with technical teams to translate concepts into schedule and cost impacts while maintaining a balanced approach to risk.
  • Competence in creating project plans and schedules, with proficiency in MS Project and good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to produce and maintain a risk register and communicate risk philosophy effectively.
  • Understanding of commercial terms and their impact on projects, along with knowledge of contracts and product assurance plans.
  • Ability to demonstrate company values, including accountability, teamwork, customer focus, and audacity.
