Position Overview:

This position is within the Assembly Integration and Test department team. The primary responsibilities include precision assembly and testing activities within a NAS Class 8 clean room facility, specifically for the space and defense sectors. The role also involves equipment maintenance, procedural development, and supporting other operational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform precision assembly and testing in a NAS Class 8 clean room, using equipment like Digital Voltmeters, Oscilloscopes, and Helium Mass Spectrometers.
  • Test system integrity with high-pressure gases, clean components using particle counting techniques, and ensure precision tolerances of rocket injectors and flow components.
  • Execute welding processes (EB, Vacuum Brazing, TIG) with weld inspections, and maintain/modify test equipment.
  • Follow AS9100D procedural controls, suggest process improvements, and handle pressurized test equipment and data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze test data using Excel, LabVIEW, and MATLAB, and perform wiring, harnessing, soldering, and crimping to ECSS standards.
  • Develop hands-on skills in rocket engine assembly/testing, increase involvement in design and process improvements, and support operational tasks like hot fire testing.

Qualifications:

  • An intelligent, logical approach to problem-solving.
  • Mechanical fitter/practical engineering skills, ideally gained through an apprenticeship or within an engineering organization.
  • A positive attitude towards hard work and a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ideally qualified to at least HTEC/NVQ level in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Expected Level 3 training on the Skills & Competency Matrix.
  • ECSS certification in soldering and crimping is desirable.
