Position Overview:

Our client seeks  a Systems Engineer, where you will play a pivotal role in leading space missions from Low Earth Orbit (LEO) to Geostationary Orbit (GEO) and beyond. This exciting opportunity allows engineers to be involved in missions from concept through assembly, integration, and testing (AIT), launch, commissioning, and operational life, providing a true cradle-to-grave experience. You will have the chance to see your work in space in a rapid timescale while collaborating with a fantastic team to develop quality and pragmatic solutions for innovative projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the systems engineer/technical lead on SSTL missions from contract negotiations through to launch and operations.
  • Collaborate within a team to perform mission and system design for missions ranging from LEO to GEO and beyond.
  • Conduct system-level design of space and ground segments, including requirements analysis, sensitivity analysis, mission analysis, and design trade-offs.
  • Participate in the production of concepts of operations for various missions.
  • Conduct customer-facing meetings and presentations at all project stages.
  • Prepare high-quality presentation materials and reports throughout all project phases.
  • Work with the Sales and Engineering teams to support bid/tender activities and generate technical solutions for a variety of customers.
  • Lead studies for diverse customers, ensuring technical requirements are met within cost and schedule constraints.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Proven technical lead experience on space mission projects as a spacecraft systems engineer, with a focus on cradle-to-grave mission design and analysis of space and ground segments.
  • Familiarity with downstream spacecraft-level testing, system commissioning, and requirements verification management.
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills, capable of delivering high-quality materials.
  • Knowledge of orbit analysis, constellation configurations, RF link analysis, system budgets, and satellite applications such as Earth observation and communications.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with STK, Matlab, and some planning tools like MS Project.
  • Hands-on experience with environmental testing and assembly methods for space flight equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
