Position Overview:

Our client seeks a Vice President of Engineering, you will lead and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation. This role provides an exciting opportunity to identify and cultivate outstanding engineering talent while driving the mission to establish the Internet in space. Ideal candidates bring substantial experience working on complex, requirements-driven solutions, with a track record of progressing through various solution demonstrations and, ideally, prior experience as a chief engineer. Proven leadership skills and a passion for innovation in a fast-paced, agile environment are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team in developing advanced satellite systems, fostering team growth and accountability.
  • Drive process improvements by refining engineering procedures and architectures to strengthen the client’s position in space communications.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project alignment with organizational goals.
  • Represent the client at technical discussions, industry events, and customer meetings to promote brand presence and build relationships.
  • Collaborate with program management, operations, and business development to ensure successful product launches, advancing products from TRL-3 to TRL-9.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive landscape, offering strategic insights.
  • Identify and recruit top engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning, productivity, and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical, GNC, Electrical, or related).
  • 10-15+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership within a high-growth tech company or startup.
  • Experience managing engineering teams of 25-100 members.
  • Proven track record in overseeing complex engineering projects from concept to commercial deployment.
  • Strong leadership, technical, and motivational skills, with the ability to inspire a skilled workforce.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, demonstrated in driving technical advancements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing requirements-driven projects, especially for government clients.
