Position Overview:

Our client seeks a Senior Computer Vision (CV) Engineer to design and prototype CV algorithms for space debris capture missions. The role involves developing cutting-edge technology for space object detection, tracking, and pose estimation, contributing to mission-critical CV systems. You’ll collaborate with a team of engineers to tackle the challenges of Rendezvous, Proximity Operations (RPO), and docking with uncontrolled objects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop CV algorithms for space object detection, tracking, and 6 Degrees of Freedom (DoF) pose estimation.
  • Support CV hardware procurement, verification, validation, and subsystem test activities.
  • Collaborate with Systems, GNC, and Flight Dynamics teams to ensure software and hardware performance.
  • Contribute to in-orbit operations, analyzing CV hardware and algorithm performance.
  • Guide junior engineers and review their work.
  • Conduct research on CV algorithm designs and support RPO bids and proposals.
  • Contribute to system-level processes like Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMECA) and Fault Detection and Recovery (FDIR).

Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering, scientific, or mathematical discipline.
  • Experience in developing CV solutions, including detection, tracking, classification, and working with real and synthetic image data.
  • Proficient in Python, C/C++, and version control (Git).
  • Ability to interpret optical sensor data and design experimental testbeds for algorithm training.
  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related field.
  • Experience with space applications, Lidar-based CV, multi-view geometry, and pose estimation.
  • Familiarity with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch) and SLAM.
  • Knowledge of Domain Adaptation techniques.
