Position Overview:
This position works within our clients' facilities' Assembly Integration and Test department team in Westcott. Immediate responsibilities include performing precision assembly activities in a NAS Class 8 clean room facility for the space and defense market and precision electrical testing to ensure functionality compliance. Additionally, tasks involve precision testing of assembled systems using high-pressure gases and leak detection equipment, precision cleaning of components, water and gas flow testing of rocket injectors, and special material joining processes. The role requires meticulous in-process inspection, adherence to AS9100D-certified procedural control, and equipment maintenance and repair. It also involves the redesign and modification of test equipment and proceduralised operating approaches for controlled and safe tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform precision assembly activities in a NAS Class 8 clean room facility.
- Conduct precision electrical testing on products for functionality compliance.
- Perform precision testing of assembled systems using high-pressure gases and leak detection equipment.
- Precision cleaning of components for assembly and test activities
- Conduct water and gas flow testing of rocket injectors and flow components.
- Perform special material joining processes including Vacuum Brazing, and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding.
- Conduct meticulous in-process inspection of assembly and test activities.
- Adhere to AS9100D-certified procedural control and follow procedures rigorously.
- Maintain and repair equipment used in the clean room.
- Redesign and modify test equipment for specialist tests or facility upgrades.
- Operate tasks in a controlled and safe manner.
- Use pressurized test equipment and electronic-based data acquisition systems.
- Collate and analyze test data using software tools.
Qualifications:
- Intelligent, logical approach to problem-solving.
- Mechanical fitter/practical engineering skills, preferably from an apprenticeship or within an engineering-related organization.
- Positive attitude towards hard work and a willingness to learn and develop.
- Ideally qualified to at least HTEC/NVQ level in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related subject.
- Undergoing OU or an equivalent undergraduate-level course is recommended.
- Expected Level 3 training on the Skills & Competency Matrix.
