About the Client:

Our client is a global leader in designing and manufacturing specialised components and subsystems for industries like space, aerospace, defence, and healthcare. Based in Chelmsford, they develop innovative solutions for space exploration, satellite communications, and advanced imaging technologies. With a focus on R&D, they collaborate with leading space agencies to deliver high-performance products, from space-qualified RF power systems to cutting-edge imaging sensors.

Position Overview:

Our client seeks a Project Manager with the drive to enhance their team, to manage strategic R&D and customer-funded projects, and improve management processes.You will lead existing projects, ensuring product delivery and revenue generation by managing a cross-functional team of 10+ engineers and technical staff. This role is highly product-focused and includes managing additional projects and some bid activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of subcontract formation and administration.
  • Handle contracts from small consultancy engagements to large technical procurements.
  • Prepare RFQ/RFPs with proper contract flow-down provisions.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals, perform risk assessments, and cost/price analysis.
  • Develop negotiation strategies and award subcontracts.
  • Maintain subcontract records and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, negotiate changes, and closeout contracts.
  • Align Supply Chain demand planners with subcontract deliverables.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Update policies, procedures, and contracts as needed.
  • Use ERP systems for tracking and reporting.
  • Progress high-value POs and contracts through approval processes.
  • Support cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing projects through various lifecycle stages, especially in production.
  • A proven ability to energize teams to meet tight deadlines and deliver results.
  • Strong skills in managing customer expectations and preventing scope creep.
  • Expertise in risk management and its application in projects.
  • Clear, persuasive communication skills across all levels of the business.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project and MS Project Server.
  • Knowledge of SAP is beneficial.
  • A qualification in project management methodologies is desirable.
