You will be responsible for providing necessary engineering support to a programme with respect to providing space products engineering on multiple product lines and projects, with the objective to provide the engineering support to a product for the programmes you are assigned to. The role will be integrated into the engineering team but will work closely with all functions to provide a seamless interface into the project to provide consistent and timely delivery of tasks and documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing core engineering support to the customer and seeking engineering support from the engineering department when specialist skills are required. You will be the first line of engineering support to a customer and the primary technical liaison for the products you are assigned to.
  • Cooperating and communicating with the Programmer Manager and other project participants and collaborating with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability.
  • Reviewing the engineering tasks and initiating the necessary corrective actions.
  • Reviewing areas of cost reduction / yield improvement / capacity increase within the product manufacture, assembly, integration and test, and implementing improvement programs to optimise product performance and profitability
  • Co?ordinating and preparing the documentation for project key milestone reviews: EQSR, MPCB, PCB, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, DRB etc.
  • Review equipment data and EIDPs (Valve, heaters, etc.)
  • Review engine coating data and provide approvals as necessary.
  • Review engine polishing data and provide approvals as necessary.
  • Review engine stack?up analysis data and provide approvals as necessary.
  • Generate and/or update product ATPs and Logbooks.
  • Generate, update and maintain product and equipment requirements specifications
  • Update and manage product test data (at component, sub?assembly and final build level) such that family trend data can be plotted and reviewed
  • Coordinate with other departments to assist with them updating relevant documents (Assembly Procedures, NDT Procedures, etc.)
  • Generate product and project SoC’s to requirements specifications.
  • Review and sign off flow test data.
  • Manage supplier technical questions; answer directly where possible or liaise with the appropriate resource.
  • Support the closure of NCRs in collaboration with the Product Assurance Engineer and IPT.
  • Raise and manage project level RFDs.
  • Regular status reports to the Project Manager, highlighting where necessary an accurate assessment of risks and issues, along with mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate the task planning and scheduling within the product line to ensure priorities are met and workload is level and appropriately managed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • BSc/MSc degree in Engineering or Physical Science with preferable experience in the Space Sector.
  • Good working knowledge of project management and its tools and processes.
  • A fair level of understanding of the products from a technical perspective
  • Excellent people management skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all stakeholders ? able to motivate and influence individuals, and the team, in order to deliver commitments into the projects on time, in scope and on budget.
  • Good written, interpersonal and customer presentation skills.
  • Able to be proactive, pragmatic and work under own initiative.
  • Experience in a project led design and development environment is desirable.
  • ·Highly organised; good project / time management skills and ability to deliver actions on time.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment for this role would allow for a mix of on site and working from home, however the expectation is that when work demands, on site presence is expected. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work weekends and holidays, and travel to the US and throughout Europe (when deemed absolutely critical only, and in line with Government travel guidelines).
